Holy Crap! That Candle Smells Like My Ex-Boyfriend!

I have a thing about smells. Not in the 'I-can't-stand-to-smell-anything' kind of way (though can you imagine how difficult life would be if so?!) but in the 'OMG-that-smells-like-that-time' way. Let me explain...

SO today I bought a new Tart called 'River Valley' for my Yankee Candle Burner and it smells AMAZING. The Yankee Candle website describes the scent as having 'watery green notes with hints of sage, amber and oak' but I say it smells like man. 

Does that sound bizzare? 

I've always thought that men have typical smells, probably because the majority of them douse themselves with Lynx in the hope that women will flock to them, as their adverts crudely suggest. Now I'm all for men finding their own unique scent - I don't want my man to smell the same as the postman or that creepy kid who follows you around campus (ahem) - but when I lit this candle this evening it smelt like my idea of the typical man-smell and it was like a switch coming on in my memory.  It is incredibly sexy and makes me want to nuzzle into the crook of a man's  my boyfriend's neck. 

An ex-boyfriend of mine wore exactly this typical man-smell and I was immediately reminded of him. Don't get me wrong, lighting this candle hasn't sent me into a frenzy of needing to leave my boyfriend and dramatically rush back into the arms of this man, in fact it makes me want to see him more, but every so often it is nice to be reminded of those old flings. That smell will always remind me of that ex-boyfriend. An ex-boyfriend who I have not seen in over a year but coincidentally passed by this morning at the train station. Weird, eh? So, in conclusion, if you want to sit in your bedroom and be surrounded by man-smell then I thoroughly recommend 'River Valley'. I, for nostalgia's sake, will certainly be purchasing this one again.
